The Mythic Tarot by Juliet Sharman-Burke and Liz Greene brings the power and insight of ancient Greek myths to bear on the traditional tarot. Each card in the major arcana shows a scene from a myth that reflects the essential meaning of that card. For example, the Star shows Pandora looking upward with hope despite having opened Zeus’ fateful box of miseries. The four suits cover four well-known myths in detail: the love of Eros and Psyche (Cups), the adventures of Jason and the Argonauts (Wands), the tribulations of Orestes and the House of Atreus (Swords), and the resourcefulness of Daedalus against the Minotaur (Pentacles). The instruction book The Mythic Tarot describes the myth, symbols and meanings that go with each card (216 pages). A separate Mythic Tarot Workbook offers exercises and extra information to help you experience this deck. The artist is Tricia Newell.

PRICE: $50.00 FOR THE KIT OR $25.00 FOR THE BOOK ALONE

These customized dolls are called “handmades” by fans and collectors. The first doll was made by Long using one of his mother’s doll kits. He showed the doll to Glonek, and they worked together to make 12 more. After the dolls sold out immediately, Long & Glonek decided to make more for sale. These original handmade dolls were sold exclusively through Glonek’s horror memorabilia mail order company Unearthly Possessions, as well as at horror conventions along the East Coast. It was at one of these conventions, Chiller Theatre, that Mike “Mez” Markowitz, the founder of Mezco Toyz purchased one of the dolls. Mezco subsequently contacted Long and Glonek about manufacturing and distributing the dolls commercially.

The first commercial series of Living Dead Dolls, Series 1, was released early in 2001. Since then, new series have been released roughly twice a year. On Halloween 2008, Series 16 was released. Series 17 will be released early 2009.

Magick Without Tears was the last book written by occultist Aleister Crowley (1875-1947), initially written in the mid 1940s near the end of his life, and first published in 1954. The book consists of 80 letters to various students of magick. Originally to be titled Aleister Explains Everything, the letters offer his insights into both magick and Thelema—Crowley’s religious and ethical system—with a clarity and wit often absent in his earlier writings. The individual topics are widely varied, addressing the orders O.T.O. and A.’.A.’., Qabalah, Thelemic morality, Yoga, astrology, various magical techniques, religion, death, spiritual visions, the Holy Guardian Angel, and other issues such as marriage, property, certainty, and meanness. The book is considered by many as evidence that Crowley remained lucid and mentally capable at the end of his life, despite his addiction to heroin (prescribed for his chronic emphysema).
